How to tie your belt
Tying your BJJ belt can seem tricky at first, but once you get the feel for it, it’s simple. Here’s how to get your belt looking right.
Start by finding the middle of your belt by folding it in half. Place this midpoint at your belly button, and wrap each end around your waist so they meet in the front again. The key is to keep both layers flat and even.
Next, layer one end of the belt over the other, tucking the bottom end under both layers around your waist and pulling it up snugly. Now, you should have two ends hanging down in front. Cross the top end over the bottom, pull it through the loop, and tighten it up into a neat knot. With a little adjusting, both ends should hang evenly.
And that’s it! Tying your belt might take a couple of tries to feel natural, but once it clicks, you’re all set.
